Highlights
Ila Safari Lodge is a brand new luxury eco-lodge located right on the threshold of Kafue National Park in Zambia. The lodge is set on the banks of the Kafue River in an area of abundant wildlife.
Ten state of the art luxury safari tents are strung out along the riverbank, each situated on their own individual deck. Each tent has been individually designed to mesh with the flora surrounding it providing shade, privacy and your very own piece of Kafue wilderness. The interiors as well as the private decks are furnished in chic, modern African style and every comfort has been considered.
Our central boma is best described by the phrase 'eco friendly meets dynamic design' and is the showpiece of our property. Designed from inception to provide top notch facilities for 24 guests, this half moon shaped building boasts a stunning modern pool, an open-air restaurant, bar and lounge with 180 degree views out over the river, a boat jetty, a drop deck fire pit area for after dinner gatherings under the stars.
Kafue is renowned for it diversity of wildlife and pristine untouched wilderness. We offer game drives, boat cruises, walking safaris, fishing, visits to our community farm and back of house tours to showcase our ‘eco’ credentials. Ila Safari Lodge is the proud owners of Zambia’s first electronic Land Rover (eLandy) and also operate an electronic boat (eBoat). Amongst other ‘green’ endeavors we also operate 100% on solar and run our own biogas plant.

Safaris
The Kafue National Park, and indeed Ila Safari Lodge, is easily accessible from either Lusaka (by road or air) or Livingstone (by air). The park combines easily with Victoria Falls or indeed other parks within Zambia. Our favourite itineraty for a Zambian Safari is a combination of Victoria Falls, Kafue National Park and South Luangwa. This gives the traveller a truly diverse experince of this beautiful country.
Ila Safari Lodge offers game drives, boat cruises, walking asafaris, fishing and back-of-house tours to showcase our 'green credentials'. Our activities are all led by experienced guides who are mastrs of their craft. Safaris take place in the Kafue National Park, in the adjoining game management area (GMA) and on the Kafue River.
Wildlife
On the big game front lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo are all prominent. Further to this, Kafue boasts the highest population of wild dog in Africa and the greatest diversity of antelope in the world including the much revered roan and sable antelopes.
The diversity of habitat makes Kafue one of the best locations in Africa for birding. The Kafue riverbanks, wetlands, savannah and woodland boast an impressive 478 of Zambia's 733-recorded bird species. Among them African Wattled and Crowned Crane, Fish Eagle, Woolly-Necked Stork, Saddle Billed Stork, Goliath Heron, Ground Hornbill, African Fin Foot, Pel's Fishing Owl, Purple-Crested Lourie and Chaplin's Barbet.
