Intro
Nestled right on the edge of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda is Buhoma Lodge. This secluded and serene lodge has been designed sustainably and built using locally sourced materials. A great deal of thought has been given to the design of the lodge to ensure guests enjoy uninterrupted views, with each of the ten chalets giving guests a front row view over the forest canopy and Bwindi National Park.

Need To Know
- Gorilla permits need to be booked in advance, due to limited numbers available each day
- Evenings in Bwindi can be cold primarily due to the altitude, and we advise guests to bring enough warm clothing to enjoy their stay
- A yellow fever certificate required before travelling to Uganda and must be presented upon arrival at a port of entry
- From 2018 onwards, gorilla tracking permits will be US$ 600 regardless of the season
Wildlife
Mountain gorillas are wild animals and, as such, sightings cannot be guaranteed. However viewing success rates are over 90%. Once sighted, visitors are allowed an hour with the gorillas.
Aside from the gorillas, the wildlife in Bwindi boasts a large variaty of birds and butterflies which can be seen on guided forest walks. It is one of the top 10 birdwatching sites in Africa with over 350 species recorded, including 23 endemics (90% of all Albertine Rift endemics) such as the Short-tailed Warbler and Blue-headed Sunbird, as well as seven IUCN red listed species. The forest is also is home to over 200 spectacular butterfly species, some of which are endemic to the Albertine Rift Valley.

Average Stay
We recommend a minimum stay of 2 nights. Overnight accommodation is required the night before gorilla tracking in order to start early the following morning, and then a further night's accommodation is recommendd, as the tracking can sometimes take a full day. However, 3 nights are ideal to enjoy this region.

International Rates start from US$330 per person sharing, full board for a night. We also offer special "Fly in Packages" where all accommodation, transport and activities is included in one package. There are discounted rates for East African Residents. National park fees are applicable once you enter the park itself for activities, otherwise not whilst at the lodge. Child Policy
Children welcome. We have rooms that will accommodate children sharing with adults (up to 2 children under 12 years per room). But please note that the age limit for gorilla trekking is a minimum of 15 years old.

Ten comfortable chalets have been carefully built with local wooden materials. Each suite has a private verandah and enormous windows, allowing guests spectacular views of the forest canopy and the Bwindi National Park. Chalets include:

Season
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest may be visited throughout the year. High season runs from July to September and January to February. These periods are drier, making the trails less slippery. April and May is considered the main rainy season with November and early December also being wetter.
The climate is wet, yet mild. Temperatures remain consistent year-long due to its short distance from the equator. Daytime average temperatures are around 23°C/73°F, with a significant drop at night to around 11°C/52°F.
