Desert Rose is a unique eco friendly lodge located at 5,500 feet on the verdant cedar forest slopes of Mt Nyiru which towers majestically above the Elbarta plains, between Karisia Mountains and Lake Turkana in North Kenya.

From the lodge there are breathtaking views over the Northern Frontier, the desert and distant Blue Mountains. Desert Rose is about the space, the views, the scenery and people. It is possible to explore all the craters, volcanoes and the incredible Lake Turkana by plane on wonderful ‘flying safaris’, returning to the cool green mountain in the afternoon.

There are so many wonderful unique experiences and activities to enjoy, from these flying safaris to visit various culturally important sites and spectacular locations, to nature walks around the mountain, camel walks and visiting the local tribal communities.

By road: From Nairobi to the lodge is about a 10hour drive.
By plane: You can take the Desert Rose plane up to the lodge which gives you
the freedom of doing the adventure flying up to the lake. Take any scheduled
flight to Nanyuki followed by the tropic Air charter to Desert Rose, or by private
charter from Nairobi.

Take a priavte plane or helicopter to visit some of the most mysterious locations in the region, such as Suguta Valley - African hottest and most inaccessible valley, Lake Turkana - the biggest desert lake in the world, Lava Desert - the kingdom of stones, thousands of square kilometers of lava, the Mars scenery, Koobi Fora - not more than 200 people a year reach this place, the real end of the world, completely off the beaten track, Chalbi Desert - the harshest place in Kenya and rock art caves.
