Intro
Ecoscience have developed an innovative concept in combining a Luxury Lodge with a Scientific Center which purpose is to host researchers, teachers and students from all over the world in search of an appropriate place to lead their study and organize their workshops and seminars. The eighty hectares property, set just outside Tarangire National Park, borders an important migration route of elephants, zebras and shelters a large number of other animals including a large diversity of birds. Guests can enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding plains while staying in very original luxurious rooms which style, designed by the renowned Spanish architect, Maria Rodriguez-Carreño Villangomez, is inspired by the traditional Maasai housing with a minimalist twist.
Highlights
The directors and founders Dr. Ben Beeckmans and his wife Nadine are passionate about volcanoes. When they are on site, Dr. Beeckmans can, on demand, propose talks on the geology and volcanic activity of Northern Tanzania; He can also accompany guests if they wish to take day trips (or several days’ trips) to discover volcanoes of the area. Dr. Beeckmans also collaborates with the City of Arusha and the Nelson Mandela University to develop a monitoring program of the dormant and active volcanoes of Northern Tanzania. The manager, Dr. Helene Wallaert can propose talks on the anthropology and ethnography of the communities living in Northern Tanzania.
Need To Know
The Luxury Lodge includes 6 beautiful rooms, of 60m² each, with a unique architecture inspired by the traditional Maasai housing or Boma, en-suite bathrooms, high class furniture as well as art pieces and an outside terrace of 30m² where our guests can relax and enjoy an astonishing view of the Tarangire plains. The restaurant, in the same architectural style offers a large lounge area and a vast outside terrace. It proposes a stylish cuisine, with African, Mediterranean and Belgian accents, made only with homemade products, and in constant search of quality and finesse. The Science Center is completely independent from the Lodge and consists in two very large tents, one being the restaurant/lounge area and one the conference hall and library. It proposes, to the visitors, eight tents of 65m² each with colored concrete flooring. Each one is equipped with a private shower bathroom, a desk space and a large outside terrace. Each tent offers two single beds and can host two scientists. An extra bed can be added. Free Wi-Fi is available. Depending on availability, the Scientific Center welcomes, all year around, tourists within the scientists tents. They can take advantage of this original housing. During the summer months (July and August), when the Science Center is closed to researchers, it is completely dedicated to tourists.
