Encounter Mara is a classic tented eco-camp set on the banks of the Olmorjoi river in the exclusive Mara Naboisho Conservancy, part of Kenya’s famous Masai Mara, and home to the famous wildebeest and zebra migration. We are a small, low-impact, exclusive camp that provides personalised service at a high standard. We have a passion for our guests’ experience, our staff members’ well-being, and the conservation of the habitat and wildlife surrounding us.

Highlights
Encounter Mara is a safari experience that is never rushed or superficial. The rhythm of each day should allow our guests to truly encounter the culture and wildlife of the Masai Mara in a unique and genuine way. We are committed to responsible, low-impact tourism operations, employment of local communities, and the conservation of the Masai Mara ecosystem, as well as Kenya’s wider natural environment. We believe the time has come for true consultation with local communities and for partnerships that involve a different brand of tourism, which do not exploit or commercialize local cultures and communities. We believe in an authentic guest experience that embraces our great respect for the Maasai people’s culture and our own passion for the conservation of the incredible wildlife surrounding the camp. As such more than 90% of our staff are Maasai, employed from the immediate surrounding communities. All of our guides are graduates of the Koyiaki Guiding School and hold KPSGA Silver qualifications.
