Giraffe Manor is owned by The Safari Collection and is an exclusive boutique hotel, set in 12 acres of private land within 140 acres of indigenous forest in the Langata suburb of Nairobi. As one of Nairobi’s most iconic buildings, Giraffe Manor has extraordinary appeal, that harks back to the 1930s when European visitors first flocked to East Africa to enjoy safaris. With its stately façade, elegant interior, verdant green gardens, sunny terraces and delightful courtyards, guests often remark that it’s like walking into the film Out of Africa: indeed, one of its twelve rooms is named after the author Karen Blixen.

Wildlife
The most fascinating thing about Giraffe Manor is its herd of resident Rothschild’s giraffe who may visit morning and evening, sometimes poking their long necks into the windows in the hope of a treat, before retreating to their forest sanctuary. Child Policy
Children are ages 3 to 11 years inclusive. 12 years and over is an adult. 2 years and under is an infant. Infants stay FOC. There is only a child sharing rate in the Standard and Superior Rooms at Giraffe Manor – this rate is the same whether they share the room in one of the beds or whether they are in an extra bed. Extra beds do not always fit, please see notes below and check with the office before booking. If a child is to be allocated to a single room, the rate charged is the FULL single room rate.
Accommodation
The hotel has 12 rooms, each with their own distinct personality, elegant furnishings, art deco features and four-poster beds. The original manor was built in 1932 and has six rooms, three of
which were renovated in 2019: Betty (double), Lynn (double/twin), Daisy (double/twin), Jock (double/twin), Marlon (double/twin) and the Karen Blixen Suite (double/twin/family). In 2011, the current owners built the Garden Manor, a smaller replica of the original manor, with six rooms: Salma (twin/double), Edd (double), Arlene (double), Helen (double/twin), Kelly (twin/double/triple) and the Finch Hatton Suite (double/twin/family). It is possible to put extra beds in some rooms.
