'Hodi Hodi' is the traditional Swahili greeting when arriving as a guest at the house of a friend.  The answer is always Welcome - 'Karibu'.

The HODI HODI philosophy is about responsible tourism and providing an authentic and sustainable experience.
We buy locally and we reduce and recycle.
Our waste is collected by donkey cart.
We use water and power with care.
We leave shells on the beach, and try to make a very light, bare footprint.

Our food has inspirations from Spain, India and the Middle East, but is all sourced from the islands, and set in a pallet of Zanzibari spices.

All our staff and suppliers are from the nearby village of Kilima Juu and the small primary school receives learning gifts from our guests.
We dress demurely in the village and towns in respect of the local Muslim traditions.

The atmosphere is easy-going: An honesty bar, serve-yourself hot beverages, cocktail hour, free WIFI and a barbeque for guest use.  A plunge pool with a coconut island suits adults and children alike. 

The dining is alfresco to ensure you can enjoy the beautiful setting and the set food menu changes daily so is local and fresh, combining traditional and international modern cuisine.

Staff all come from the nearby village.  HODI HODI supports various community projects and has been assessed as a member of Responsible Tourism Tanzania.  

The creator / owner / manager of HODI HODI is Julia Bishop, East African born and raised, and long-time supporter of sustainable tourism.

We are in the Marine Conservation Area of Mnemba Island and so boat trips for Diving and Snorkelling are available with reputable companies.  The reef is pristine and the marine life excellent - with dolphin and turtles seen regularly and humpback whales passing by during the migration season.
