Intro
Like the animal it is named after, ‘Camp Zebra’ follows the great wildebeest migration to the Northern part of the Serengeti National Park from July till October each year and to the Southern part from December till March.
Whilst in the North, the camp is located in the Kogatende area very close to the banks of the Mara River from where our guests are able to enjoy the incredible spectacle of the river crossings. In the South it is situated close by the Ndutu plains where our guests are able to view the Wildebeest during their famous calving season.
In June and November each year, the camp is set up in central Serengeti. The precise location is dictated by the movements of the wildebeest herds in order that our guests are able to fill their days enjoying this natural phenomenon.
Camp Zebra is closed from the beginning of April till the end of May each year.
Highlights
Unlike many other so called "mobile camps" which stay put in one located for months if not years at a time, Camp Zebra is a camp which actually moves four times a year in order to afford our guests the best possible wildebeest migration viewing experience.
The camp is available for both 'drive-in' as well as 'fly-in' Safaris since Intimate Places maintains a fleet of 4 x 4 Safari cars with highly trained guides.
Need To Know
Protection of the environments in which Camp Zebra operates is very high on our list of priorities since long term sustainability is key to the very survival of our company. For this reason, Intimate Places have continued to invest heavily in green technolgies.
With effect from January 2016, Camp Zebra turned to solar power for all of its energy requirements and a standby generator is kept in camp for use only in case of poor weather. Other inititiatives include:
- The use of environmentally-friendly biodegradable chemicals to breakdown toilet waste.
- The use of especially designed and energy efficient water heaters.
- The use of recycled wood 'briquettes' for camp fires.
- The transportation of all of the camps waste to Arusha where it is recycled by TENA
Safaris
Intimate Places offers a number of Safari itineraries which are built exclusively around our portfolio of properties. Details of these may be obtained by visiting our website at www.intimate-places.com

Wildlife
The main focus of 'Camp Zebra' is the great wildebeest migration and our aim is always to get as close as possible to the large herds. That said, the very many thousands of wildebeest and zebra attract a great many predators and so sightings of lion, leopard and cheetah to name but a few are very common.
The Serengeti National Park, in which the camp spends the largest part of each year, is arguably Tanzania's best known national park. Great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impalla and Grants gazelle can be seen and enjoyed all year around.
