The Kafue is one of the last true wilderness areas. Covering 22,440km², its unmatched variety of species and that you can enjoy the wildlife almost on your own, makes this park one of the last secrets of Africa. This is a place to unwind, enjoy our chefs’ cuisine and be spoiled with an abundance of activities or, if you prefer, just relax and feel the heartbeat of Africa. An absolute highlight is the unique river and the activities based on the river which can range from sitting in safe natural rock pool with a chilled glass of fizz through to shooting the rapids in custom made canoes!

Our Lodge is situated in the Namwala Game Management Area (GMA) on a spectacular and remote stretch of the Kafue River, approximately 400 kilometres north of the majestic Victoria Falls. The Kafue National Park, just opposite the lodge and only a 10 minute boat trip away, offers magnificent game that you can enjoy viewing from our comfortable open game drive vehicles. The Kafue River is completely unique here, with a myriad of channels, rapids and islands lends itself to a range of exciting river based activities which include boat cruises, fishing, birding, canoeing and river trails. The whole lodge is powered by solar energy - both power, water and water heating. Environmentally we are a true minimum impact establishment.

The Lodge is located on a stunningly beautiful part of the Kafue River, providing the perfect backdrop for a range of activities including guided game viewing by vehicle and boat, birding and fishing, river cruises, island picnics, walks and even canoeing. This diverse range of activities is unmatched in the Kafue, and our standards of boats, vehicles and all other equipment is very high. This diversity, and of course our highly experienced guiding team, enables the guest to pick and choose and have a tailored experience as far as possible. The area around Kaingu is particularly good for Sable sightings. Seasonal elephant activity on rocky islands (August to November generally) is a treat. The Kafue as a whole has a very healthy population of wild dogs, leopard and lion. With 515 bird species recorded in the Kafue it is a birding paradise - both on water and on land.
