All you need to know

Intro

Kiba Point is our private camp in the Selous; a totally exclusive little retreat in the heart of one of the most game-rich areas. with family, or a group of friends, safari life doesn't get much better than a few days here.

Sometimes you just want to get away and have your own safari, be it with your family, kids, or just another. Whilst safari camps generally are social affairs, and great that they are, we know that sometimes you just want to do a safari on your own. If you'd rather not meet anyone else, decide when and how long your game drives should be, run to your own mealtime preferences, then this is the place to be.

Kiba Point is just a mile downstream from our other Selous camp, Sand Rivers, but it operates completely in its own private world. It's set back off the river, with only 4 impressively large and open-fronted suites. Bathrooms are bush deluxe, with flush toilets, indoor and outdoor showers and hot and cold water as and when you want it.  Each room has its own plunge pool set into the edge of the deck, and there is also a large pool at the main thatched mess, where you can also sink into comfortable sofas and chairs for an afternoon of general laziness.  There are books and games to entertain, or there's the river to watch - an endless cycle of interest.

Highlights

Total privacy with your own camp team, guide and vehicle. Plan your activities and meals to your own schedule, enjoy going out or staying in. A wide variety of activities including boating, fishing, walking, game drives, picnicking, trips to the hot springs and fly-camping. A stunning private lodge, with just 4 suites, each with a private plunge pool.

Need To Know

Kiba Point is designed for private groups of friends and families. We accommodate children over 5 years old and have one family room with an adjoining children's twin room, shared bathroom. Parents should be vigilant at all times - this is still a wild place.  All rooms (except the children's annexe) are entirely open-fronted, although raised.

Safaris

Kiba Point combines particularly well with Kigelia Ruaha and/or Chada Katavi or Zanzibar. There are also flights between the North and Ruaha. Please contact us for more advice on how to include this in an itinerary.

Wildlife

Selous is a vast, rich game area and is particularly well known for hippo, crocodile, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard and wild dog, among many other species. It is rich in birdlife too. Since it is possible to get out on foot, in open game drive cars and by boat, it makes for a very diverse safari experience.
