communications hub for the region encompassing Borana and all the Northern Rangeland Trust Conservancies and is central to the DAS operation.

• Lewa holds over 10% of Kenya’s black rhino population and about 15% of Kenya’s white rhino population. Over 40% of the fulltime employees on Lewa are rangers who undertake daily patrols around the reserve, monitoring the wildlife, specifically the rhinos.
• It holds the largest single population of critically endangered Grevy’s zebra.
• As well as being renowned for its rhinos and Grevy’s zebra, Lewa hosts an abundance of other species, including elephant, lion, cheetah, leopard and buffalo.
