Intro
Kisampa lies north of Bagamoyo and the Wami River and immediately southwest of Saadani National Park. Set in a 140,000 acre private conservation sanctuary. Kisampa sits atop a range of hills overlooking the Wami River Valley and surrounded by lushly vegetated rolling hills and valleys. Wildlife is shy but increasing with the protection now provided in the sanctuary.
Within camp our goal is to be as environmentally friendly as possible by conserving precious water resources, and when ever possible support local communities by buying local products, which reduces our carbon footprint. Furthermore, we also employ staff from the surrounding local communities, allowing our guests to have cultural exchange of ideas and lifestyles.
Kisampa is the ultimate bush retreat – a place where you can turn off from all the stress, pressure and noise. We keep your experience intimate and personal!
Highlights
Kisampa is situated in 140,000 acre private conservation sanctuary, so only guests in camp on the property. No daily TANAPA park fees to be paid.
Need To Know
Kisampa is adjacent to Saadani NP, so park fees only apply on days when on safari inside the park. However Saadani airstrip is inside the park, so the park fee is payable on the day of arrival and departure if arriving & departing by air. People who drive in or out through the park are required to pay park fees as well.
Alternative route is via Kiwangwa Village. A village between Bagomoya and Msata, will require a motorbike guide along the 17km streach to the Wami River so as not to get lost, where you leave your vehicle in the capable hands of the a guard and clamber into a dugout canoe, to paddled across the river. Here a camp vehicle awaits to transfer you to Kisampa. It makes for an amazing start to a fantastic bush experience!
4x4 vehicle recommended
We would like to mention that Kisampa and Saadani should not be viewed as PRIME game viewing areas in Tanzania, this region is a new conservation area and unique in so many other ways and much worth a visit.

Accommodation
Accommodation consists of a thatched roof over an open-sided area, within which a large and comfortable hand-crafted bed rests under a protective mosquito net, a relaxing hammock and a little desk to sit and read or write from as you look out over the stunning vistas below. Bathroom and toilet are ecologically designed, without electricity or running water, but extremely pleasing none-the-less. The comfortable composting toilet, due to the remoteness of the lodge, is open to the hillside, and can truly be described as a loo-with-a-view! Shower water is heated and brought to your bathroom by friendly staff, and again showering while out in the open surrounded by trees, the bush and the inevitable collection of birds and monkeys is a lovely experience. The rooms and paths are lit up using solar lamps, so bring torches to walk to and from your room.
