- The lodge is perfect for families – the team have created kiddies digital safari books and the guides and team are really great with kids.
- The main lodge’s bar opens up onto the swimming pool – meaning you don’t have to leave the pool to order a drink or snacks.
- Make sure to visit the lodge’s Photographic Hide, situated at eye level with a watering hole. Many animals have been spotted there, from elephants to buffalo and even a leopard! You can also ask the team to bring drinks and snacks down to the hide.
- Inkwe Family Villa has a private viewing deck overlooking a waterhole. It is very popular with the animals so make sure to spend some time there.
- The lodge is completely fenced so you can walk around freely day or night, just make sure to stick to the pathways! They are illuminated at night.
- The lodge provides stainless steel water bottles as a gift on arrival for guests to use for the duration of their stay.
- The roofs of all the buildings capture rain water which is used as grey water.
- Ask the team to do sundowners at the Cliff! Situated just below the lodge, it offers spectacular views of the Madikwe plains.

Rockfig Lodge has a magnificent setting, high up on the ridge above the Madikwe plains, offering spectacular views and stunning sunsets. Madikwe offers some of the most pristine and untouched wilderness areas in Africa.

The lodge is small and intimate, allowing privacy whether choosing to travel alone, as a couple or as a family group. It also allows our staff to give their undivided attention as and when needed. Four self-contained villas are positioned far enough apart to ensure seclusion but remain within an easy walk to our restaurant, bar and pool deck.

Safaris
Twice daily game drives with our amazing guides. Each drive is about 3 hours with a quick stop for snacks and coffee or sundowners.
Wildlife
Madikwe Game Reserve is home to the Big Five (leopard, buffalo, lion, elephant and rhino) as well as cheetah and wild dogs. Other animal species include both spotted and brown hyena, wildebeest and black backed jackal to name a few. There are over 400 species of birds recorded in the reserve as well.
