The South Luangwa National Park marks the end of the Great Rift Valley, one of the last remaining unspoilt wilderness areas and possibly the finest wildlife sanctuary in Africa - a claim which is not an overstatement.

It is through this 9050sq kilometer National Park that the great meandering Luangwa River runs, with its ox bow lagoons, tributaries, riverine supported woodlands and large plains, all of which play host to huge concentrations of game including elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, giraffe, hippo and over 450 species of birds.

Situated in the exclusive Nsefu Sector Tena Tena sits nestled under a magnificent and thick grove of mahogany trees. On a double tiered river bank each room enjoys its own private view onto a long stretch of the Luangwa River.

Tena Tena is synonymous with Robin Pope Safaris as it was the first camp which Robin opened and ran and has become a favourite amongst many safari lovers over the years.

Located in Nsefu sector of the South Luangwa National park, this area boasts one of the more exclusive game drive areas of the National Park.

Tena Tena is sandwiched between the river and a complex lagoon system under a magnificent mahogany grove and is a magnet for wildlife and you do not need to go far for some incredible sightings.

The camp is small and intimate with a maximum of twelve guests and is run by an experienced team whom are all passionate about their jobs and the level of service that they and the camp provide for the guests.

The space within the camp allows for increased privacy and every room is specifically designed and located to blend into its environment whilst providing the best possible view onto the river.

The camp is run entirely by solar power enabling the rooms to have electricity throughout the day and night.

International airlines
Coming to see us couldn't be easier. International flights to Lusaka are provided by South African Airways, Kenyan Airways, Emirates and Ethiopian Airways. Daily flights into Livingstone Airport are available with British Airways and South African Airways from Johannesburg, South Africa. Kenyan Airways operates 3 times a week between Nairobi and Livingstone.

Visa
You'll need a tourist visa, which most nationals can purchase on arrival. Please confirm with us if you need to apply for visa in advance or refer to the Zambia Immigration website. Do check your stamp at immigration to make sure that you've been given enough days on your visa. Both international and domestic airport taxes should be included in your ticket price. For charter flights we will confirm this at time of booking.


From the 1st of June 2015 all foreigners and South Africans travelling with children under 18 to or from South Africa as well as travellers in transit will be requested to provide an unabridged birth certificate (including the details of the child's father as well as the mother) of all travelling children. This applies even when both parents are travelling with their children. In the case of one parent travelling with a child, he or she must produce an unabridged birth certificate and consent in the form of an affidavit from the other parent registered as a parent on the birth certificate of the child authorising him or her to enter into or depart from South Africa with the child he or she is travelling with. When children are travelling with guardians, these adults are required to produce affidavits from parents proving permission for the children to travel. Please contact us for more information.

Airport Taxes
Both international and domestic airport taxes should be included in your ticket price. Note - for charter flights and seat rate charters these are NOT included.

Money Travelers’ cheques and cash are accepted. Credit cards are becoming more widely accepted but not in remote areas and should not be relied on except in major towns. RPS accept visa for payments made in the camp.US dollars are easier to change than sterling. Please ask the exchange or bank to supply you with only new US dollar bills - i.e. ones with large heads as any with small heads are not accepted in Zambia.

Insurance
Make sure that you have comprehensive medical and travel insurance before you arrive.

Medical
You must have malaria protection and we recommend tetanus and the hepatitis vaccinations. It is advisable to know your blood group type in case of emergency.

Photography
Please be sensitive when photographing local people and their villages. Ask the guide or the villagers first. Be careful when photographing public buildings and persons in uniform - just ask first

Meals & Drinks  
Rate is fully inclusive of all meals and drinks.  
 
Electricity & Water 
The camp is run on solar power with a backup generator for cloudy days. Tap water is from a borehole and is safe for drinking; bottled water is also provided at the camp free of charge.
 
Children’s Policy   
Minimum age for children is 12 years.
 
Payment for extras 
All extras can be paid in cash (local currency, US$, Euro or British Pounds) only.
 
Tipping   
Is not expected but always enthusiastically received if you are happy with the service. Please always give tips for the staff to the management to be shared out and kindly tip your guide individually.

Game drives
· An option of day or night drives.
· Toyota Landcruisers with two tier seats (three tier for groups / families) are used - a "window" seat (i.e. two people per row) for everyone.
· Open top vehicles, affording you total 360 degree vision.

Walking
· The walks are led by our knowledgeable guide, and escorted by an armed National Park scout.
· Our guiding team is very passionate and will certainly impart some amazing bush insights at a level that will surprise you.

The unspoiled South Luangwa National Park is one of natural jewels in Zambia's crown, and home to one of the most varied collections of wildlife on the planet.

The park is centered around the Luangwa River. Untapped by man, its natural ebb and flow of flooding makes much of the park inaccessible by road which keeps it a sanctuary for the large concentration of game that live there. A paradise for birders, over 450 species are to be found in the park, and the wildlife includes elephant, buffalo, hippos, giraffe, leopards and lions.
