Intro

The Wolwedans Collection of Camps is situated in the NamibRand Nature Reserve and offers guests a luxury accommodation experience without compromising on the natural allure of the outdoors. Our desert based establishment is perfect for adventure travelers, leisurely holiday-makers, honeymooners and nature lovers alike. We pride ourselves on our first-class cuisine and mesmerising surroundings. Additionally, our friendly staff are always keen to welcome visitors to the Reserve.

Highlights

We are passionate about conservation, commerce, community and culture. These so called "4 c's" are at the cornerstone of our ethos. The Wolwedans team is committed to conducting business in a sustainable manner. Such an approach serves the dual purpose of protecting the fragile ecosystems that exist within the Namib Desert, whilst simultaneously ensuring an unforgettable experience for visitors. In order for these efforts to prove effectual, we engage local farming communities so as to involve them in social projects and raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection. This naturally leads to the promotion of positive cultural practices and instils a sense of pride in inhabitants of the region.

Need To Know

The Wolwedans Foundation is a non-profit organisation which is fully funded by the activities of the Wolwedans Collection of Camps. The Foundation provides for the upliftment of young Namibians through vocational training, as well as academic programmes. By means of the Desert Academy and the Namib Desert Environmental Education Trust (NaDEET), Wolwedans contributes to the development of the youth of Namibia in a meaningful way.

Safaris

We offer walking, driving and horse-riding safaris. Each safari option promises to be unforgettable. Take a scenic walk through the Reserve. Enjoy the option of either a 2-3 hour day safari, which includes a picnic lunch, or indulge in 3-4 hour evening safari drive which culminates on a desert dune with a majestic view of the sunset. Sundowner and snacks are included in evening safari drives. The daring at heart are encouraged to experience the immensity of the Namib Desert on horse-back. The horse-riding safaris add a unique, personal touch to the safari experience. Horse-back safaris are subject to availability of horses, which are based at Wolwedans only from April - October each year.

Wildlife

The NamibRand Nature Reserve is home to a plethora of living organisms. Hyenas, bat-eared foxes, genets, African wild cats, various serpents and dune larks are among the predators who feast on unsuspecting prey within the reserve. These may include: oryx, kudu, klipspringers, zebras, hartebeest, giraffes, various rodents and an innumerable variety of insects.
