Borana Lodge is located on the foothills of the mighty Mount Kenya, with the snow-tipped peaks and glaciers to the south and a panorama of mountains and rugged desert to the north. Borana is one of the original pioneer eco-lodges in East Africa, where all retained earnings are invested into the conservation of land, wildlife and building local communities.

Guests have full exclusivity to Borana’s 32,000 acres of protected wilderness, and can encounter extraordinary scenes of wildlife in their original, untainted environment on foot, on horse-back, by helicopter, on mountain bikes or even on night drives in open safari vehicles.

The original "Pride Rock" from Disney's The Lion King is located on Borana Conservancy, and can be accessed from Borana Lodge with ease. It is the perfect spot for sunrise and sunset.
Borana has an airstrip where chartered flights can land, just 15 minutes away from Borana Lodge. There is a helipad at the Lodge.
Borana is at an altitude of 6000ft, and is therefore malaria free.

Borana is geared towards having children on safari, with an array of activities to keep all ages busy, including fishing, horse riding, assisting in the lodge kitchen and learning how to prepare local dishes, safari themed treasure hunts and visits to Pride Rock.
The Borana Lodge staff are very happy to look after children while parents head out to track blick rhino on foot or simply enjoy a massage.
Borana Lodge offers eight unique cottages, from family cottages to honeymoon suites, each with an open fireplace, private verandas and views over the Samangua Valley and the Lewa Plains to the Ngare Ndare Forest and Mount Kenya beyond. The Lodge is designed will the hillside in mind and is created from local, sustainable building materials, providing the best in comfort and style.
Borana Lodge is open all year round.
We love how the lodge grows a lot of its own produce and raises its own cattle!
The horses at Borana are very well cared for and we had such an amazing time being guided by our knolwedgable local guides.
Just the best place to visit for a wonderful safari experience. Guides the best. Lodge experience just the best and overall experience just the best.
I actually talked about this with the manager because for me that’s the real luxury, staying in a lodge where my impact is helping animals, people, traditions and a way of life without the waste.
Just talk to the employees, go to the learning center or to the recycling station, everyone has more than a job, a way of life with marvellous opportunities
We felt the difference in this lodge and conservancy with other East Africa places. This really is a conservation org. Every detail of our stay was a proof.
They chef has talent, he makes the experience a foodie’s one, this really stands out compared to other lodges. He’s also very friendly, he answered all my questions about food and hospitality
Amazing experience, getting so close and driving trough the bushes with a horse picked exactly for my ridding level. I cannot begin to explain the feeling.

As I mentioned earlier, the care they have taken to ensure that the landscape is taken care of, that there is no soil erosion, the recycling, giving food from the community to save on carbon waste.
Most certainly. When we walked to the pride rock, we used these beautifully sculptured walking sticks that I was told had come from the community.
Most definitely. The care they take with ensuring that we recycle the shampoo and conditioner and soap bottles, recycling water among other, it is truly impressive.
Every time it was time to eat, I started salivating. The range of dishes was impressive. The Borana steak on the first night, the sushi, lots of tasty vegetables, the list goes on.
Unfortunately I didnt go riding but I heard great things about the fly camp and riding experiences.
At the point I was in Borana, we were having a competition with my friends to see who should walk the most kilometers in a month so I had a lovely time keeping up with my walks only this time in natur
This was so amazing we saw so many animals at close quarters, I still look at the videos I took and wish to go back soon.
