Intro
From its prime location bordering Botswana, the camp offers breathtaking views that extend all the way to the Makgadikgadi salt pans, providing a glimpse into the captivating Kalahari ecosystem. A unique feature of this area are the springs and seeps that provide water for wildlife throughout the dry season.
The camp is a collaboration between co-owners Mike Thorne and renowned safari guide Ian Batchelor, who have teamed up to create an exhilarating and ever-evolving experience for guests. Together, they manage the day-to-day operations of Daka Plains Camp and its unique private concession. The end goal being the creation of ‘the go to’ camp experience in Hwange.
Need To Know
Daka Plains is situated in the far northwest of Hwange National Park and is a 45-minute/1 hour game drive from robins airstrip. The Camp is sited on a low hill overlooking the Deka Seeps which are the head waters of the Deka river which flows east to the Zambezi.
Access to Daka Plains Camp is by land and Air. One can self-drive to Robins Camp or alternatively, you can book a road transfer or flight from Vic Falls to Robins Airstrip where Camp will collect you.

• Daka Plains is a 3-hour road transfer from Vic Falls.

Wildlife
Elephant on foot is both exhilarating and often daunting for our visitors, hearing lion roaring close to camp during the hours of darkness and then setting out at first light to find them. Using the age old skills taught from childhood, reading tracks and sign, wind and cover….sharing this experience with our guest and introducing them to a very unique and special insight to safaris!

Our Unique Safari Style
The décor, colors and the special touches create the ambiance of Daka Plains. The camp is a blend of local rock, canvas, and thatch with the front deck and sitting area. The rooms cater to all requirements with hot and cold running water, flush toilets ensuite. We have chosen the finest quality linens and towelling bathrobes, comfortable beds that can be transformed into either twin or king beds we now have a very special family room that can accommodate families with young children and in close proximity to our main area. Sit back and relax on your own private deck looking down over the Deka river and valley. All our rooms have a spacious draped mosquito net, overhead fan for the warmer months, coffee and tea station, a small lock up safe, 220v plug points for charging phones and cameras. If you require a special adaptor, we recommend bringing with you. A Laundry facility is provided daily, and luggage racks from the original Victoria Falls Hotel adorn the foot of the bed. We have provided a lockable wooden chest for extra storage and adequate shelving with hanging space for all your safari gear and clothing.
