Cantering through the floodwaters alongside the elegant motion of a giraffe, gently ambling past a large breeding herd of elephants, spending a week or more building a relationship with your horse and with the unique ecosystem, these are experiences that can never be forgotten.

Highlights
The horses are hand-picked and responsive; the guides are passionate and committed, and understand every inch of their playground: the vast and ever-changing Okavango Delta.
Need To Know
Kujwana is a tented camp on the banks of the Xudum river, on an island with shallow malapos (seasonal flood plains) and lagoons in the surounding area. Built on wooden decking in a forest of large trees there are six Meru tents with large ensuite bathrooms. Small groups of 6 guests can arrive on a Saturday or a Tuesday. Guests are transferred to and from Maun by helicopter, a 30 minute flight, the perfect way to start your safari. We operate in 2 private concessions covering two and a half square kilometers in the Okavango Delta, a world Heritage site. The camp is solar powered and horse dung is recycled into Biogas which fuels gas stoves for cooking. Bio Rock (solar powered sewage system) cleans the waste water. We currently support 8 children in our sponsored education program, each child put forward by our employees. These children have the wonderful opportunity of private education and further studies. We have been in the Okavango Delta since 1986 and were the first Horse Safari Operation in Southern Africa
Safaris
Safaris are run from Kujwana camp with only 6 guests, on a 5 or 7 night safari, departing on a Saturday or a Tuesday. All safaris ride between Kujwana and Mokolwane camp in the middle of their stay. Guests have the opportunity to undertake game drives, mokoro trips, walks and boat rides as well as daily riding. The Okavango Delta’s water system creates a unique safari experience with guests enjoying wonderful canters through shallow water, mokoro trips, and even swimming alongside the horses during peak flood season.
Wildlife
The Okavango Delta is host to a hugely diverse array of flora and fauna. Large herds of elephant, zebra, giraffe, buffalo, tsessebe. Lechwe and impala are common place. Lions, leopards, wild dog and jackals (to name a few) are also regularly viewed. Rhino has been introduced. Exceptional birdlife including an endemic species The Slaty Eagret The delta also offers great birding opportunities due to the diverse habitat on offer.
